I do agree, but modern copyright law has been perverted beyond reason.
So while apple may not have wanted you to do this, copyright laws at the time would probably have been on the user’s side.īut when it comes down to it… I personally would consider using the ROM in the way it is now in emulators fair use… any profit Apple ever deserved to make off of it has been made long ago. Keep in mind copyright was based on books and media and it was generally acceptable to encode to different formats (like record->cassette tap) if you were indeed the owner of a legal copy.
That assumes copyright law allows a copyright holder to restrict the hardware, which I don’t think it does (at least before the DMCA). because that is all Apple has ever approved. Apple owns the copyright… it’s only “kosher” to run this ROM on the hardware it was originally sold with….
